MILFORD, Del. — Hannah Zimmerman and the Milford Lady Buccaneers hosted defending state champions Cape Henlopen on Tuesday, but the Vikings proved why they still wear the crown. Cape jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead in the first half before Milford's Scarlett Fitzgerald set up Izzy Betts for the Buccaneers’ first goal of the night. Betts added another just before halftime, but the Vikings carried a comfortable 10-2 lead into the break.

Zimmerman opened the second half with a highlight-reel underhand goal, followed by a fourth score from Milford, though the goal scorer couldn’t be identified due to uniform visibility issues. Cape, unfazed, regained momentum with a free possession goal from Avery Miller and didn’t look back. Hailey Gamuciello and Mairead Rishko each added to the Vikings’ offensive outburst, with Rishko’s goal capping off a seamless full-field transition. Cape Henlopen rolled to a dominant 20-6 victory over Milford, extending their reputation as the team to beat in Delaware girls lacrosse.
