Hawks are hopeful to win Northeastern Conference in inaugural season

PRINCESS ANNE, M.D. -- In November of 2023, the Maryland Eastern Shore athletic program decided to add a new team to the fold. Now, in 2026 that dream is a reality, with UMES becoming the first ever HBCU to field a D1 men's volleyball team. The team finished the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 10-5 record. On Thursday, it begins conference play against D'Youville, and the team is very confident they can make a splash and even win the whole thing. 

As Black History Month winds down, UMES men's volleyball is proving that black history never stops.
