GEORGETOWN, Del-- Sussex Central and Smyrna faced off in girls soccer Monday night. Throughout most of the first half, the Golden Knights and Eagles found themselves in a 0-0 deadlock. But with less than nine minutes in the half, Smyrna's Anna Duke gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Going into the second half, Angela Lopez-Velasquez of Sussex Central answered back with a goal. Tying the score 1-1. For the remainder of the half, Sussex Central and Smyrna were equally determined to prevent each other from scoring. This led to the game going into overtime. The battle for the leading spot continued until Sussex Central's Jimena Chilel-Mendez gave the Golden Knights a winning score of 2-1.
