Cape Henlopen's Ava Calciano wins Gatorade Player of the Year

LEWES, Del. — For the first time in Cape Henlopen softball history, the program has produced a Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Delaware.

Ava Calciano earned the prestigious honor after leading Cape Henlopen through one of the most successful regular seasons in program history. She batted an impressive .538, posted a remarkable .707 on-base percentage, and hit four home runs. In addition to her offensive production, Calciano showcased elite defensive skills at the shortstop position.
