The match opened with back-and-forth action, including an early crossbar hit from Sadie Trumbull and a key defensive clearance by Delmar’s Zeny Hatton. But it was Gianna DiFebbo who broke the deadlock, sneaking a shot past goalkeeper Lily Baker to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead after officials ruled no offsides on the play.
