Dover, De. – The DIAA announced Friday that girls wrestling will officially become a Level 3 sanctioned championship sport next school year. This move comes after increased participation over the past few years. In 2018, only six states offered girls wrestling championships at the high school level. Now, Delaware will become the 46th state to sanction girls wrestling, according to Wrestle Like a Girl.

The vote to sanction the sport for the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association took place on March 12 during a Board of Directors meeting. The DIAA says more information on championships and dates will be announced at a later time.
