Zach Parnes

Zach Parnes is the current Sports Director for WBOC/DSN.

Sports Television has been a passion of Zach's since he was young. His mother holds fond memories of him "calling the game" alongside announcers in his favorite sports video games as a 5-year-old.

That early passion was just the beginning. Parnes attended the Scholastic Sports Broadcasting Camps in Philadelphia and Baltimore from ages 9-16. The camp led him to develop his skills, as he practiced reporting, anchoring and creating content with the camp.

Through his work at the camp, Zach was able to apply, and land a job as a Kid Reporter, for Sports Illustrated for Kids.

The opportunity put Parnes right in the action. He covered the NFL Draft in 2009 and 2010,  and made appearances on CNN and The Today Show, among other media outlets.

In the years that followed, Zach hosted podcasts and live radio programs, covering the NBA, NFL, MLB and UFC.

Zach is a graduate of Syracuse University. He studied Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School for Public Communications. While at SU, (the real one :) ) Zach worked at WAER, and CitrusTV, further developing his craft as a journalist.

Parnes joined WBOC 9 months after his graduation in March of 2019.

However, he is far more than a young journalist. A former stage performer, Zach loves theater and movies, and enjoys talking about music, politics, cooking (especially asian dishes), and traveling.

His favorite sports teams include the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, Syracuse sports... along with a random yet die-hard fandom for the Phoenix Suns. His favorite MMA fighters are Stefan Struve, Kamaru Usman and Zabit Magomedsharipov.

If you ever see Zach around Delmarva feel free to say hi! He's always interested in chatting with viewers and making new friends
