Caravel suspends its program two years after beating Howard for a second straight state title

Bear, D.E. — Caravel Academy suspended its football program ahead of the 2026 season over concerns of being unable to field a competitive team. The six-time state champions moved up to Delaware's Class 3A before last year. After the Buccaneers won 38 of their last 39 in 2A, which included a pair of DIAA title wins. Caravel went 6-3 in 2025, losing to Appoquinimink in the state quarterfinals. The Bucs had two Henlopen opponents, Caesar Rodney and Dover, on their schedule for this upcoming campaign that must now find another team to play a full 10 games.
