DELMAR, De. -- Delmar narrowly beat Smyrna 1-0 in the second round of the DIAA softball playoffs. The Wildcats are headed to the state quarterfinals for the first time since 2019.

Delmar pitcher Macy Rickards racked up 11 strikeouts in the circle, then added a double at the plate. Fellow Wildcat Kadence Melvin hit the go-ahead RBI to drive in Rickards' courtesy runner.
