A chance at history on the line as two teams are one game away from being crowned the best 1A boys basketball team in the state in 2024. The 25-2 Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings are taking on the 25-2 Edmondson-Westside Red Storm tomorrow afternoon hosted by the University of Maryland at the Xfinity Center.

Let’s start with the crew from Baltimore. After a 9-1 start to the season, Edmondson-Westside suffered their second loss of the season on January 6th to St. Frances, 69 - 48. After that, it was pure dominance, as the Red Storm would rattle off 12 straight by an average of 29.2 points per game to end the regular season, before heading into MPSSAA play. They’d start the 1A state tournament with a five-point win over City College before defeating Green Street (72 - 29), Forest Park (66 - 38), and Perryville (88 - 49) to reach the semifinals. The dominance would continue as the Red Storm handed Smithsburg a 16-point loss (75 - 59) to reach the state title game.
