Kayla Santiago is the current Sports Director for DSN.
Sports has been a passion of Kayla’s ever since she was a kid. From going to sports games as young as two years old and then to taking statistics of each player and team at such a young age. Kayla decided to turn that passion that started when she was a kid to a profession.
The passion is what sparked her interest into starting a career in the sports industry. The day she walked into college she realized that she wanted to get involved in sports television. She worked for her college's television network where she broadcasted multiple sports. Not only did she get involved at school, but had six internships during her three years in college. Some of her favorite moments were working with Philadelphia Eagles play-by-play broadcaster Merrill Reese, working with the NFL Alumni and NFL Draft Bible, and also being the play-by-play broadcaster for the Delaware Blue Coats and Wilmington Blue Rocks. She got to do live coverage with NFL Draft Bible on Sports Illustrated during the 2021 NFL Draft and she was able to do interviews with NFL Draft prospects for NFL Alumni. Kayla also was selected to do play-by-play for the NBA G League Championship in 2021 for the Delaware Blue Coats.
Kayla went to Rowan University and majored in Sports Communication and Media. During her time at Rowan she was involved in Rowan Radio where she broadcasted all Rowan Sports, was digital media director and sports director for some time. She broadcasted games for Rowan Athletics live television stream where she realized she really loved working in tv!
Although Kayla puts a lot of her effort into her craft she has a lot of things she likes to do in her free time. Santiago is a very family oriented person so she likes spending time with her family. She loves the beach and outdoor activities and adventures. Santiago actually got involved with intramural sports for Rowan Campus Recrecreation where she was a referee so she enjoys officiating games as well!
Her favorite sports teams are the Sixers, Eagles, Phillies and Flyers. She’s a four for four Philadelphia sports fan as she says “the best way to be.”
Kayla is very excited to be a part of DSN and she thanks them for giving her a chance to chase her dream that she is very passionate about, being a sports broadcaster!
