MIDDLETOWN, Del. — In a high-energy battle between two of Delaware’s top teams, the Smyrna Eagles held off a late surge from the Saint Georges Hawks to secure a 56-53 victory. The Eagles found their rhythm early, with Marice Killgoe knocking down a corner three to push Smyrna ahead in the first quarter. Logan Shaw and Aaron Johnson added key buckets, while Chase Sullivan banked in a contested three to keep the Eagles' offense rolling. At halftime, Smyrna took a commanding 27-16 lead.

The Hawks fought back in the fourth quarter, led by David Crawford and Amere Roads, who helped trim the deficit. Harold Best’s missed three turned into a second-chance opportunity as Joshua Obiora grabbed the rebound and converted, cutting the lead to five. A steal by Shane Davis led to an easy transition layup, and Obiora powered through the paint for another score, bringing Saint Georges within one. With less than 10 seconds left, Emory Womack's clutch spinning shot kept the Hawks in contention, but they were forced to foul.
