DAGSBORO, De. -- Delmar Baseball pulled off an improbable win over Indian River earlier today; as they rallied from four down in the top of the seventh for 7-6 comeback victory on the road.
After entering the top of the seventh down 6-2, the Wildcats gradually worked their way back into the game. With bases loaded still down four, a walk brought in the innings first run, and then set up a two-run Ryder Keidel single to cut the lead to 6-5.
Then, with runners on first and second, Blair Davis delivered with a sharply hit liner to left-center which just got by the diving Indian River Center Fielder, allowing two runners to cross home and give the Wildcats their first lead of the game.
The Indians had a shot in the bottom half of the seventh as well, getting a runner over to second with and just one out.
However, Sophomore reliever Colby Pete shut down ay threat of a rally, generating an infield pop-up and a strikeout to secure the come from behind Wildcat victory.
Delmar is now winners of four straight and improve to 8-5 on the season. Their next matchup will be back at home on Thursday against Sussex Academy. First pitch is set for 4:15.
Indian River now falls to 7-7. They will look to get back above .500 at home against Middletown at 4:15.
