NEWARK, Del. – The top-seeded Caravel Buccaneers secured their spot in the DIAA State Final after a hard-fought 58-54 victory over Ursuline Academy in the semifinal matchup at the University of Delaware. The game saw back-and-forth action, with Ursuline’s Jezelle Banks and Caravel’s Chasity Wilson leading their teams in a high-energy showdown. Caravel took a slim 31-25 lead into halftime after Wilson drained a deep three-pointer and Banks responded with a smooth shot from beyond the arc just before the break.

The Buccaneers maintained control for most of the second half, extending their lead to 49-42 in the fourth quarter. However, Banks kept the Raiders in the fight, delivering a crucial layup and a deep three-pointer to narrow the gap. Ursuline’s Sanai Johnson added another key basket in the final minute, making it a three-point game. With time running out, Banks had a chance to tie but missed a potential game-saving shot, allowing Caravel to secure possession and head to the free-throw line to pad their lead.
