Dover Senators

The Dover Senators look to bounce back after a 2-4 mark last season. The Senators will be led by new head coach Chip Knapp, but he is a household name in the First State. Knapp spent 33 years coaching at Wesley College and will still be close to the community.

Knapp will have an experience quarterback in senior Jordan Moran. He passed for 419 yards and completed 46% of his passes. He threw for a pair of touchdowns and also rushed for two.

The Senators will need to find replacements for their two top rushers in Teyvion McCoy and Qualeak Bumbrey. Each rushing for over 400 yards and combining for six touchdowns.

Rising senior Micah Davis looks to be in line to take the bulk of the carries. In a small sample size, Davis averaged 7.2 yards per carry in six games and scored a touchdown. Junior Tryon Abrams can also be an option in the backfield. He appeared in all six games for Dover rushing for 52 yards in limited time.

The wide receiving corp looks to stay mostly in tact. With Marquis Guy graduating, Dover look to someone else to lead the group. Guy had 112 yards on six catches and a touchdown. The Senators have a nucleus of rising seniors that could step into bigger roles. Elijah Sessoms led the team with 14 receptions and second behind Guy with 103 yards. Tyron Abrams, Micah Davis and Tyir Trott all look to contribute.

Defensively, there will be a lot of new faces. Seven of the top ten tacklers for the Senators have all graduated. Abrams, a two-way player entering his junior season, will look to be a lead on the defense. He racked up 25 total tackles last season, good for second on the team.

Dover begins the season on September 3 at Arundel HS.
