The Delmar Wildcats have a new head coach entering this season. Geoffrey Ernst will take over for Shawn Phillips who took a job as a coach with the UMES baseball program. Ernst, who served as an assistant for the previous three seasons with the Wildcats takes over a program that has had a winning record in each of the last three seasons and making the playoffs twice.

"Coach Phillips laid a great foundation for us. He left the program in a better shape than when he got it. When it's all said and done, I only hope I can say the same. With the boys, it's more than basketball. We obviously want to win games, but it's hoping these boys get through high school, go to college, further their education and become contributing members to the community here in Delmar."

The Wildcats open up their season in a non-conference contest against Chincoteague HS (VA) on December 9.
