War on the Shore is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the state of Maryland.  With more than 20 teams NORMALLY competing IN this tournament, it is a great opportunity for wrestlers to demonstrate their skills, and wrestle other wrestlers with a range of skills.

Starting in the Finals the 106 weight class first place match took place featuring Malachi Stratton from Sussex central against Korlan Tran from lake Braddock high school.

Early on Stratton dominated gaining leg control of his opponent bringing him to the mat multiple times. This match went to all three rounds in the third round stratton showed great conditioning slamming his opponent to the mat gaining some points. Stratton was able to stay dominant the entire match and come out victorious.

On another mat in the 126 weight class Dylan Bennett from Cesar Rodney took on Johnny Colon from Whitehall high school based out of Pennsylvania. Colon struck first lunging at his opponents leg trying to bring him down.Bennett stayed patient in the second round he was able to get a slam gaining some back points for the riders ,but Colon of Whitehall did not stay there long he was able to roll over putting no shoulders on the mat.  In the third round things took a turn Colon propelled Bennett off the mat and was able to slam him on the mat and gain some back points himself. In the end the Whitehall went home with the win in this match against the Cesar Rodney Riders.

Todd Martinek’s Stephen Decatur Seahawks were up next in the 145 weight class. The Seahawks Gavin Solito went up against Southern Regional high schools Nick Bennet.

There was a lot of hand wrestling in the beginning until Southern Regionals Nick Bennet struck first with the takedown. Later in the round Bennett was able to gain top position in hopes to put Solito in a half nelson. The Seahawks had great defense and were able to hold off the pin ,but the Southern Regional Rams kept coming and in the end the the rams went home with the win.
