Highlights: UMES Opens Up Conference Play with a 3-1 Victory Over South Carolina State

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Women's Volleyball team has struggled to start the season, entering their first home match of the year with a 1-10 record. Much of that comes down to the level of competition UMES puts on its schedule to start the year, but Head Coach Vanessa Faircloth believes her team tends to play to their competition, which can be a blessing and a curse.

However, this game was more than just another game. With the South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-11) coming into the Hytche Center, this marked the beginning of conference play for the Hawks. And it's safe to say the Hawks rose to the occasion, with a packed crowd there to see it all.
